Did you know about Chickens and T-Rex?

As I was tucking into a fried chicken meal, KFC for those interested, it got me thinking about something I heard many moons ago and as I looked at my measly chicken leg I let myself imagine for a moment that it could be true.

Chickens Are the Closest Living Relation to T-Rex!

Just think how significant those portions would be if it were Jurassic Fried Dinosaur or JFD!

Tyrannosaurus or T-rex is one of the well-represented species of giant dinosaurs. The T-rex lived all across what is known now as Western North America but was then an island continent called Laramidia.

The T-rex is recognised as one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs that ever existed. All the things about this highly ferocious predator starting from its massive and thick skull up to its 4-foot long jaw were designed uniquely for maximum bone-crushing actions.

There is fossil evidence showing that Tyrannosaurus or T-rex was about 12 metres or 40 feet long and 15-20 feet or about 4.6 to 6 metres tall. T-rex had a long and powerful tail and muscular thighs that help them move quickly. Its massive 5-foot long skull can bore into its prey.

The conical and serrated teeth of T-rex were most likely used to grip and pierce flesh that it eventually ripped away by using its powerful neck muscle. The T-rex two-fingered forearms could seize their prey. However, these were very short to reach its mouth.

Many scientists believe that this powerful and famous predator ate up to about 230 kilograms (500 pounds) of flesh in a single bite. The fossils of T-rex prey suggest that T-rex crushed and then broke the bones as it ate. Broken bones were found on its dung which has back this up.

The Tyrannosaurus or T-rex lived and thrived in the forested valleys of North America during the late Cretaceous period. These creatures became extinct about 65 million years ago in Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction.

Scientists have finally uncovered the closest living relative Tyrannosaurus or T-rex, which is known as the most famous and feared among all dinosaurs. For the very first time, researchers have successfully managed to sequence the proteins from the long-extinct creature which lead them to the discovery that numerous molecules are showing a remarkable similarity to those of………..a chicken.

The research unveils the very first molecular evidence for the notion that birds including chicken are believed to the modern-day descendants of the dinosaurs and also overturning that long-held palaeontological assumption that the delicate organic molecules like the DNA and proteins are destroyed during the fossilisation over hundreds of thousands of years. This research also hints at a tantalising project that researchers and scientists might be able to emulate Jurassic Park through cloning dinosaurs someday.

Results of the research were published and have caught the attention and interest of many. These results also include the analysis showing that T-Rex collagen make-up is almost identical to a modern chicken this corroborates a body of evidence from fossil record demonstrating birds have descended from these meat-eating dinosaurs.

So there you go, just think we could be tucking into a bucket of JFD if things were a little different!
